This project is considered as a complementary intervention assisting the one previously operated in the estate of the villas of San Rafael, and consists in the renovation of the smallest villa which was traditionally destined to house the guardians of the estate.
Nevertheless, in the new masterplan designed for the estate, this house was destined to be utilized by the bodyguards of the guests residing in the other villas. This auxiliary use of the house was for us an interesting way to explore a new design for the rooftops which lacked of a definite configuration that tin turn caused construction pathologies related to the snow accumulation. This induced us to consider a linear arrangement, a lot more interesting, away from the ‘alpine’ models and designed to shelter more contemporaneous living spaces.
At the same time, the need to interlink the houses favored the design of a pergola which allowed the communication between the residences while also providing a closed car-parking, and a space for the needed facilities. This pergola helped in turn to liberate the rest of the parcel from parking spaces and enabled a greater enjoyment of the pine wood where this estate is located.
